From there, this miniature sculpture – really a miniature work of art – is used to make a metal master mold. With the master mold, large quantities of replica waxes are made, which are then soldered to a base, making what jewelers call a wax tree.

The wax tree is put into a cylindrical flask which is then filled with fine plaster. The flask is baked at a very high temperature to evaporate the wax (this is where the name ‘Lost-Wax’ comes from). The evaporated wax leaves a space the exact shape of the designed charm. The empty spaces are filled with melted gold or silver pellets and left to harden. Afterwards, the plaster is washed away to reveal a raw cast of the original charm.

This is where the work of the Rembrandt production team begins. Each charm is then hand finished and polished by workers in the in-house facility. Details are added and sometimes further embellishments such as rhinestones or precious gem settings. Some charms also undergo a soldering process to create three dimensional movable Rembrandt charms.
